Do you practice what you preach?

Nothing is more of a turn off than someone who doesn’t practice what they preach.

I’m sure we’ve all met people like this, but let me give you some examples. I know a guy who works in health care, and he is very pleasant when speaking with patients. He reassures them, goes out of his way to make sure they are happy and comfortable, and even goes above and beyond what is required. Without fail however, when out of the patient’s earshot he will proceed to whine and complain about those same patients for any reason at all: he may not like their mannerism, their questions, their clothes.. In other words, he’s a fake. He doesn’t really care about them, or else he wouldn’t whinge about them! The problem with this sort of person is you tend to become wary of them in normal conversation – in the back of your mind is, “is this guy being honest, or is he (more…)

Energy and cutting corners

Sometimes my energy levels are way down. Have you ever had times in your life when you feel like this? For a couple days, or even a week, your body just feels tired. Sometimes I feel like mentally I’m on top of things & I have the desire to get lots done, but physically I’m just not holding out!

I could blame it on several factors that might contribute to making me feel this way, things like not getting enough (more…)

Stepping outside your comfort zone

I was talking to someone tonight about people who stay in the same job for years and years but don’t seem to like the job! You know the type of person I’m talking about: they always seem to be particularly moody, never go out of their way to help anyone and permanently seem to fix a kind of ‘half sneer’, bitter look on their face.

When coming across people like this in my own line of work, I’ve often thought “why are they working here!” It seems that everyone would benefit when someone with this kind of attitude leaves the job completely (more…)

Look at me: I’m right in front of you!

A few years ago there was a principal change at my kids local school. The previous headmaster was a really well liked guy, and many people were upset that he was leaving.

His personality was dynamic! He was a great public speaker and when you spoke with him one on one, you really felt like he was genuinely interested in what you had to say.

There was a lot of build up over his prospective replacement – a lady with many qualifications who had beaten several other applicants in order to get the position. She certainly (more…)

Love Life: just a slogan?

Today I was drinking a caffeine drink (one of the many red bull look-a-likes) called Hype! Energy. The slogan on the can was “LIVE LIFE – LOVE LIFE – LOVE HYPE”.

It got me thinking about not only the way companies market products and target buyers, but the way we throw around slogans these days. Soft drinks always seem to be synonymous with enjoying life, loving life, getting the most out of life. I don’t know about you, but generally speaking I don’t knock down a can of lemonade and cry “that’s living, baby, YEAH!”

Some of the more famous slogans are from (more…)

Personal Growth: where to start

credit: Lydiat

One of the biggest questions people ask themselves when they start thinking about personal growth is “where do I start?” I know I did! If you’re reading this it means you’ve taken the first step – research, reading, hearing other people’s experiences. One of the greatest beginnings on your road to personal growth is making a start.

Life is so much more fulfilling when we are happy! In referring to happiness here, I’m not talking about the two hours on a Saturday night you’re shooting pool, hanging with friends and enjoying life! I’m talking about holistic happiness, or addressing many different areas that will make your life feel more fulfilled – personal growth. When you enjoy where you are at, (more…)

5 Quick ways to improve your health

Health is not just about your fitness levels, or how quickly you can run 100 metres. Improving your health is really referring to changing negative habits and lifestyle choices, changing negative or ‘can’t do it’ attitudes, and beginning to make good choices with regards to your health and fitness.

    Why change my attitude?

“Attitude is a little thing that makes a big difference” – Winston Churchill

It’s amazing how your attitude can have so much to do with how successful you are in life. Yes it will make a difference to your business and work opportunities, but I’ve also discovered there are other ways my life has undergone some serious improvements due to some changes in attitude. This has also affected how ‘successful’ I am in other areas, such as my relationships, my motivation, and my overall feelings of fulfillment or hapiness.

    Change My Attitude

Recently I have been through some money difficulties which were partly due to poor decisions, but also due to moving to the coast. I found that costs of living here are higher, rental and housing costs are higher, school fees are higher! After 6 months of moving (more…)
