Are you ready for big changes in your life?

I was driving in my car today when I was hit with a sudden thought. I’m at a point in my life where I’ve come to expect amazing things. I’m also in a curious position where I’m feeling more and more gratitude for the things in my life, for what I have.. but I’m also not satisfied with my former life: I’m ready for change.

How will this happen? By looking for opportunities. I’m trying to read more, learn more, love more. I am becoming more in tune with myself and my loved ones, and I’m starting by setting my own personal goals and standards high.

Maybe you’re in a similar situation: you’ve had it with always accepting second best. You may have previously avoided confrontation, taken a back seat, or let your insecurities or shyness dominate your life. In all seriousness (and I say this with conviction) – it’s time to start living!

When I was driving, the thought I was struck with was “am I really ready for big changes in my life?” So much of our lives are made up of pre-conceived notions, experiences and learned reactions – when my life changes dramatically tomorrow, will I be ready? How about you – are you serious about personal growth, or vaguely interested?

Mindset and Perception
Steve Pavlina has a very interesting article on Money and the law of attraction. In this article, he talks about how the value of money has a lot to do with our mindset. From the site:

  • How much money is a large sum?
Is $500 a large or small amount? It depends on your perspective.
If you’re in a scarcity mindset, it might seem like a huge sum. If you have a wealthy mindset, it may be a tiny amount. That may be hard to believe, but it’s true.

If that holds true for money, really the same applies to other areas of our lives: relationships, personal standards, work habits, morals, values – if we continue to maintain a skewed perspective, we are limiting ourselves with what we can achieve.

I was reminded of the song inspired by one of Barack Obama’s speeches – it was derived from the union catchcry Yes we can, here’s a snip of some of the lyrics:

Yes we can.
Yes we can to justice and equality.
Yes we can to opportunity and prosperity.
Yes we can heal this nation.
Yes we can repair this world.
Yes we can.

What an inspiring thought – how many times have we been motivated to make some change.. make a difference.. do something great, only to be brought back to reality by pessimism, negativity?

Let me encourage you to think about these things this week:

Yes we can change our current existence.
Yes we can believe and receive great things.
Yes we can improve not only our own lives, but that of those around us.

Settling for second best is simply laziness.
